What is the Investors & Indigenous Peoples Working Group – Canada (IIPWG Canada)?
The Investors & Indigenous Peoples Working Group – Canada is a joint initiative between the Reconciliation and Responsible Investment Institute (RRII) and Tallgrass Institute. IIPWG Canada is based on the original Investors & Indigenous Peoples Working Group (IIPWG), which began in 2006. IIPWG Canada is a clearinghouse for Canadian and international information, news, events, joint action, and an opportunity for Indigenous investors, allied service providers and other community members to come together and discuss Canadian Indigenous and corporate issues.
IIPWG Canada follows the Chatham House Rule to encourage inclusive and open dialogue. and to protect the identity of those on the call.
What happens during the calls?
IIPWG Canada calls follow a similar format to IIPWG meetings, covering topics including Canadian and international information, news, events, joint action, and resources, including investor briefs and toolkits. Attendees can expect to hear from guest speakers, partake in group discussions, and learn about relevant issues and engagements.
Why create a Canadian-specific IIPWG?
The launch of IIPWG Canada is a response to feedback from the group’s own members expressing a desire for a dedicated time and space to address the growing amount of Canadian Indigenous and corporate issues being raised on IIPWG calls.
Who can attend IIPWG Canada?
IIPWG Canada is an open call. All are welcome to attend.
When and where does IIPWG Canada take place?
The first meeting of IIPWG Canada was held on Wednesday, Nov. 6, 2024. Future meetings are to be held every two months during the first week of the month. Exceptions will be made for holidays and events.
The remaining calls to be held in 2025 are:

Calls are held virtually through Zoom.
